Pastor Mike Chuks Nwanegbo, the Provincial Pastor and Coordinator of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Belgium Mission, has admonished Christians to focus on securing eternal life rather than being consumed by the pursuit of earthly things. He delivered this message during a marriage thanksgiving service for Chidiebere and Blessing Okereke at the Foursquare Gospel Church in Alaka District, Lagos.
Pastor Nwanegbo emphasized that the primary mission of Jesus Christ on earth was not merely to solve temporal problems but to offer the gift of eternal life to all who believe. He expressed concern that many churchgoers are more interested in seeking solutions to their worldly challenges than in cultivating a genuine and lasting relationship with God.
The clergyman also issued a caution to his fellow ministers, urging them to avoid placing undue emphasis on prophecy and anointing at the expense of the core Christian message of hope and eternal life in Christ. He reminded the congregation that even miraculous deeds and anointing for service are not a guarantee of salvation, referencing Jesus' own words about those who performed miracles in His name but would ultimately be rejected.
Drawing from the scriptures, Pastor Nwanegbo highlighted the faith of biblical figures such as Abraham, Moses, Isaiah, and David, who believed in Christ without ever having seen Him in person. Their examples, he argued, should serve as an inspiration for modern-day Christians to hold fast to their faith.
The service was also attended by the parents of the newlyweds, including the Reverend Roland Okereke, the District Overseer of the Foursquare Gospel Church. Reverend Okereke offered prayers for the couple, asking for God's favor and blessings upon their marriage and that they might be spared the struggles their parents had faced.
