Parents of Missing California Infant Charged with Murder

The parents of a missing 7-month-old infant, Emmanuel Haro, have been charged with murder after authorities found inconsistencies in their accounts of the child’s disappearance. Jake Haro and Rebecca Haro were arrested a little more than a week after Rebecca claimed she was attacked and her son was kidnapped from a store parking lot in Yucaipa, California.

The Riverside County District Attorney’s office charged both parents with murder and a misdemeanor for making a false police report. Authorities believe the boy is dead, though his body has not yet been found. The couple has been held on a $1 million bail each, with an arraignment scheduled for September 4.

According to court records, this is not the first time Jake Haro has faced legal trouble related to child abuse. He was previously convicted of willful child cruelty in 2023 for an incident involving another child, a 10-week-old daughter. Doctors reported the girl had a brain hemorrhage, multiple rib fractures, and other severe injuries that were inconsistent with Haro’s claim that he had dropped her in a sink.
