Two Teenagers Killed, Five Wounded in Johannesburg Shooting

JOHANNESBURG
— Two teenagers were tragically killed and five others wounded in a shooting incident in Johannesburg on Tuesday, with police suspecting the attack to be gang-related.

The victims, all aged between 13 and 19 years old, were approached by a group of four suspects on foot. According to Gauteng police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili, three of the assailants were armed. The suspects reportedly opened fire on the teenagers without provocation or warning before immediately fleeing the scene.

The five wounded victims are currently receiving medical attention in the hospital.

In response to the violent incident, the South African Police Service has deployed an anti-gang unit to the scene, along with forensic services, as they launch a full investigation.

The shooting is the latest in a series of violent incidents in the country, which already struggles with one of the world's highest murder rates. Authorities continue to investigate the exact circumstances of the attack and are working to apprehend the suspects involved.
