Israeli Strikes Kill Six Syrian Soldiers Near Damascus

Six Syrian army officers were killed in Israeli drone strikes south of Damascus, according to Syria’s state-run El Ekhbariya TV. The strikes targeted Syrian army positions in the Damascus countryside near the city of al-Kiswah.

This incident follows a pattern of heightened Israeli military activity in Syria, which has increased since the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime last December. The strikes occurred just a day after Syria condemned a new Israeli "military incursion" near its capital.

Syria has also accused Israel of expanding its occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights by seizing the demilitarized buffer zone. This move is alleged to be in violation of a 1974 disengagement agreement between the two countries.
